Niger --- Young Wodaabe tribesmen participate in the Gerewol Ceremony, during the Cure Salee festival in Nigeria. The Gerewol Ceremony is an important courtship ritual for the Wodaabe tribe, during which young men don elaborate face paint and traditional clothing and perform dances and songs in order to impress young Wodaabe women. The women then judge the men by the Wodaabe standards of beauty, which emphasizes tallness and the whiteness of a man's teeth and eyes. --- Image by Tuul/Hemis/Corbis
